One-to-one coaching is a collaborative and psychologically informed process designed to support clients in managing food, weight and health within the context of everyday life. The work integrates clinical nutrition with coaching psychology and behavioural insight, with the aim of achieving sustainable change over time.
Coaching is not a substitute for medical treatment, psychotherapy or crisis support. Where appropriate, I may recommend additional or alternative support if I feel another practitioner would be better placed to help.
The work integrates clinical nutrition with principles and methods drawn from coaching psychology. The focus is on supporting sustainable change in relation to food, weight and health through a structured and collaborative process that takes into account behaviour, decision-making, habits and the wider contexts in which these patterns develop and persist.
The coaching process may include nutritional guidance, behavioural exploration, reflective work, practical strategies and between-session support where appropriate. Recommendations and guidance are tailored to each client’s goals, circumstances and needs. Coaching programmes involve significant preparatory and ongoing professional input, including assessment, formulation and the development of tailored nutritional and behavioural guidance adapted to each client’s circumstances and goals.
Coaching psychology is concerned with supporting psychological and behavioural change in non-clinical populations and does not constitute psychotherapy, psychiatric care or treatment for mental health conditions.
As your coach and dietitian, I will provide guidance, structure and professional support throughout the coaching process. This may include nutritional guidance, behavioural insight, reflective exploration and practical strategies tailored to your needs and goals.
Part of the work may involve helping you examine patterns, assumptions and behaviours that are relevant to your progress, including areas that may feel challenging or uncomfortable at times.
I will maintain appropriate professional boundaries, practise within the limits of my competence and work in accordance with the ethical and professional standards of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC), the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the British Dietetic Association (BDA).
Where appropriate, I may recommend additional or alternative support if I believe another practitioner or form of care would be more suitable.
Clients are expected to attend sessions punctually, engage openly and honestly in the process, and take responsibility for implementing agreed strategies and actions between sessions. Sustainable change requires ongoing engagement and active participation throughout the coaching process.
Clients are responsible for communicating any relevant medical, psychological or personal circumstances that may affect their participation in coaching.
Coaching is offered as an ongoing process rather than through isolated appointments. Sessions are typically held weekly during the initial phase of work unless otherwise agreed.
Coaching programmes are designed to take place within the agreed timeframe in order to support continuity and momentum within the process.
Fees are payable in advance in order to secure appointments and ongoing support within the agreed coaching period. Fees reflect both the scheduled sessions and the substantial professional preparation, assessment and tailored guidance provided throughout the coaching process.
Once coaching has commenced, fees are non-refundable. Payment secures a dedicated appointment time and ongoing professional support within the agreed coaching period.
A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to reschedule a session. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, will normally be charged in full.
Where possible, rescheduled sessions will take place within the same or following week, subject to availability.
If I need to reschedule a session, I will provide as much notice as possible and offer an alternative appointment.
Between-session contact is intended for brief practical queries, updates and clarifications relevant to the coaching process. More substantial discussions are usually best addressed within scheduled sessions.
Responses are provided during working hours and may not be immediate.
I do not provide emergency or crisis support. In the event of a medical or psychological emergency, clients should contact their GP, NHS 111, emergency services or an appropriate healthcare provider.
All sessions and client information are treated confidentially and managed in accordance with UK GDPR requirements and relevant professional standards.
Brief notes may be kept to support the coaching process. These are stored securely and are not shared with third parties, except where relevant to confidential professional supervision conducted in accordance with appropriate ethical and professional guidelines.
Any discussion of client work within supervision is undertaken in anonymised form and solely for the purpose of maintaining professional standards and supporting the quality of care provided.
Confidentiality may only be broken where required by law or where there is concern regarding serious risk of harm to the client or another person.
